I hope you have been enjoying some summer riding on our trails.
Just a reminder that our Tuesday afternoon rides will start next Tuesday, 7 February – riding away at 4.30pm from the club rooms, so make sure you are there with plenty to time to find your groups and ride leader – if you arrive at 4.30 there is every chance your group will be riding away without you.
Please remember in this hot weather that children must have a full drink bottle or a small backpack with water; please also take this opportunity to make sure your child’s bike is in good condition, check brakes, tyre condition, gears changing well, chain clean and lubes; handle bars have end cap; seat adjusted and that there are not rattles and loose bits.
All children must ride with their name plate which should have a parent or guardian’s contact details written on the back and any medical conditions which may be relevant.
We are always keen to have parent helpers come along as ride leaders or assistant ride leaders so please don’t be shy to put up your hand to help out – without parent helpers the activity will not run.
Sometimes it is necessary to cancel our junior ride activity, we endeavour to make this call as early as possible; I will always send out an email advising of cancellation and post a notice on Bright Cyclists and Alpine Cycling Club Facebook pages.
Social Team Relay
All club members are invited to join the club’s Social Team Relay on Pump Track from this Thursday, 2 February starting at 6pm – there is no cost to enter.(This is a series of five races, every Thursday) This is a great opportunity for families to meet other club members and have fun ‘racing’ together or to join up with others to form a team. A team consists of
1 x junior (under 15)
1 x female
1 x master (over 40)
1 x other
Each team will complete 5 laps of the pump track with the juniors doing the first lap and then the rest of the team can go off in any order.
The social team relay will be followed by Dirt Crits – a little more competitive, but still open for any club member to enter.
Arrive at the Trail Head Sign on Mystic Lane from 5.45pm on Thursdays to register your team.
Junior MTB Race Series
We have had great turnout for the first 3 of our Junior MTB Race Series; it is so good to see juniors of all abilities coming along to have a go, demonstrating great sportsmanship and persistence. The next race will be hosted by the Beechworth Chain Gang at the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park on 25 February and will be an excellent opportunity for our juniors to ride at another park. For more information about the race series go the Junior Tab on the Club’s website or register online at https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=18610
“Believe it, the new Hero Trail at Bright is a real game changer. We’ve certainly never ridden another trail like it in Australia, with its endless jumps, bus-sized berms, crazy flow and corners that want to peel your tyres off. We can’t wait to bring you the video from from this one!”
ACP apologises for the inconvenience of Hero Trail closure. The temporary closure was necessary to allow reports of a rise in trail-related injuries to be investigated. ACP takes people’s safety seriously and it was important such concerns were addressed. ACP is confident the spike in injuries is proportionate with the jump in visitation to Mystic Park this summer. Even so, additional safety signage will be installed to remind riders of the risks involved. The Hero Trail is iconic and unlike any other trail in Australia. The trail will reopen at 7 am Saturday morning. Please ride to your ability and always wear the appropriate safety gear.
Mystic Park and associated trails will be closed on Wednesday 11 January 2017 due to HVP logging activities.
There are severe weather warnings for Sunday.
The whole community thanks you for your patience- Go Ride!
